Codex Atlanticus, folio 893r

Fast Wagon

Leonardo designs dozens of machines theoretically capable of optimizing and automating the processes of production and transport of goods. The Fast Wagon is one of these and the sheet from which it is taken is dedicated exclusively to this project.

The idea consists in equipping the wagon with a complex system of internal rollers on which the main wheel, the one that runs on the ground, unloads most of the transported weight in order to reduce friction.
This is a logic not far from that of modern ball bearings.
