Manuscript B, folio 98r

On folio 98r of Manuscript B, Leonardo designs a warship inspired by the sting of the scorpion.

A huge scythe placed in the center is driven by a large weight that, when thrown overboard, determines its movement. This scythe, mounted on a rotating platform, can direct the attack in any direction.
The boat also has shields covered with wet skins to provide protection from incendiary weapon strikes.
