Hullbreaking Boat

On folio 90v Leonardo designs a warship with a hidden rostrum that rams the enemy ship below the water level.

The rostrum is connected to a system of levers and pulleys operated by sailors. Leonardo also recommends using sharp, heavy wooden trunks to sink the enemy ship.

The mechanism has a large counterweight that allows repeated heavy blows with the rostrum.
