Self-Propelling Cart

The famous drawing presenting a self-propelled wagon is actually a complex system for an automaton, a theatrical stage effect.

The original drawing presents an originally discarded design and the upper view of the programmable automaton. The system is spring-loaded, the leaf springs are auxiliary systems, and the lower wheels are the escapement system.

There are also studies on brake and auxiliary systems.
