SOFTWARE
For the first time in the history of the Codex Atlanticus, L3 has reproduced its most beautiful pages in multimedia format: an amazingly important achievement.
To download these high resolution images, click directly on the one you want. The images are in JPEG format, average size 100Kb each.

First page of the software.

The virtual visit begins with the computerized reproduction of a book that looks like the Codex Atlanticus which Pompeo Leoni compiled.

Picture: high resolution image.
The impact on the user is made even stronger by the use of software that creates an entirely authentic three-dimensional reconstruction of the Codex Atlanticus.

Picture: high resolution image.
The book includes a number of key pages that give a general idea of the contents of the Codex Atlanticus.

Picture: high resolution image.
To navigate the software interface you must “handle” the book itself: to see what it contains you must turn the pages as you would with a real book.

The software allows you to zoom in on individual manuscripts and see their description.

Picture: high resolution image.
By clicking on individual manuscripts, you access a screen with the descriptions of the drawings on the front and back (recto and verso) of the page, as well as instructions for examining that particular page in three-dimensional format.

In 3D format you can move and turn the page however you like.

Thanks to high-resolution scanning, you can zoom in on the manuscripts to see their details and discover their secrets in close-up.

Some of the pages of the Codex give access to three-dimensional reconstructions of one of Leonardo’s machines.

Picture: high resolution image.
Every reconstruction is the result of careful study of the original manuscript and helps you to understand how the mechanisms work. You can manipulate Leonardo’s machines, turn them around, and watch the animations that show you how they operate.

A summary screen provides a rapid overview of the machines we have analyzed with this software.

The CD-ROM includes a section on the history of the Codex Atlanticus and an interview with Monsignor Navoni of the Ambrosiana Library.

There is also: Leonardo’s life story, a short description of the various Codices and information on Leonardo’s writing.

With our software we have been able to present for the very first time a number of manuscripts which have been reassembled and restored to their original state!

These restored manuscripts are also accessible through interactive 3D reconstructions.
