ROOM 5 – Raphael Room. Cardinal Federico Borromeo collection.
Display of works documenting Federico Borromeo’s relationship to the figurative arts of the Renaissance. Surrounding the famous sketch (Raphael’s draft for his fresco, The School of Athens, in the Vatican’s Stanza della Segnatura), are paintings from 16th century Italy and casts of ancient and modern statues that were owned by Leone Leoni and Marcantonio Presinari.
